Questions you may have
Is it necessary to have hiking material to join?
To come hiking with us, we strongly advise you to have shoes with a good grip and that maintain well the ankle. The sole shouldn't be worn out or flat. It's not accepted to come hiking with city shoes (e.g Stan smith, All stars or similar type of shoes) . Of course we recommend hiking boots, however fitting hiking shoes or running shoes in a good state are also acceptable.

The hiking poles are not mandatory but required:
1. if your hips and knees are weak.
2. if the elevation change is intense (above 500m of change).
3. if you chose to come on a long journey trekking.

Make sure the backpack is comfortable and adapted to the hiking activity you have chosen. A day out only requires a backpack of 14 to 30L depending the season. Do not overpack it! The straps should be confortable, the backpack breathable on your back and it's better to pack a waterproof cover fitting the size of your pack.
How many people can I book for?
We believe in small-group magic and therefore we limit the number of participants to 10 person + the guide (Delph). In some occasions, the number will be even more limited. Therefore, please book for 2 person maximum! By respecting this, we will make sure to a have harmony and homogeny in the group and no one will be feeling put apart by the fact a certain amount of people already know each other. We all want to have good time, for some maybe to mingle and make new friends in Catalonia or some other, would rather prefer silence - which is also quite fine with us!

If you want to bring more people, we can make your a tailored hike for you and your friends/family. That can be a good occasion to celebrate anything: business event, birthday, family gathering, hen's activity, etc...

Can I bring my dog on a day hike?
We love your furry friends and they are welcomed anytime, as a matter of fact, we already have a few mascot dogs in the group:
Carmen, Miller, Delta, Prince and Vasco!!

You just need to know a few things before considering
to bring your dog on a hike:
1. dogs are accepted in the train but not in private busses companies.
2. you can take your dog on beach walk only in low season - not in summer.
3. you need to bring a leash and a muzzle.
4. if we go pass by herds of cows/sheep/goats, farming area, any wild animal, you will be responsible for the dog's behaviour (leash is required).
5. you need to pack water and food for your furry friend.
6. it needs to be able to walk long distances, not a sofa-dog!

What level of hiking shall I have?
Participants of Intothewildcat's hikes are usually between 14 and 70 years old. We have had starters as well as people who like challenge and adventure.
We organise hikes for KIDS & Family (on request only),
Beginner level 🟢, Intermediate level 🟡 and Advanced hikes 🟠.
the hiking level will always be indicated in the description of the hike.

Find below how to interpret the Hiking levels:
Beside that you should always mention health/heart conditions, if you have had any operations or if you are under medication
to Delph before booking your spot on a hike/trekking!

Beginner level 🟢
We all start somewhere, the most important is the willingness and the first step! You can hike from 10 to 23km if the elevation change* is between 0 and 500m in total (*the accumulated amount of metres going up and down on the hiking activity.

Intermediate level 🟡
You have a good level of fitness/cardio. You can hike between 10 to 26km if the elevation change* is between 500m and 1100m and you can already take the next step to do multiple-days trekking.

Advanced hikes ðŸŸ
You are adventurous and can hike long hours and high elevation changes. You will also love our multiple day-trip trekking in Catalonia or in the French and Italian Alps.
Stay tuned in our Book a Hike page or via Intothewildcat Instagram page.

Can I join if I live outside of Barcelona?
For the Sunday's hikes / 1 day hiking activity we would start from ANY train station (Rodalies or FGC) or bus stop within Barcelona metropolitan area.

We often have people coming from Costa Maresme, Vilanova i la Geltrú, Lleida, El Vallés Oriental, Penedès...

If you are willing to come hike with Intothewildcat, it is advised to arrive
at least 15 min prior to the departure of the hike at the meeting point
given by the guide.

If you own a car and that you prefer to join us at the place where we will start our hike, you are also really welcomed to do so. Although cars are not our preferred mean of transportation for sustainable reasons, we would not forbid anyone to use it to make its way to us.
In the eventuality that you will use your car to join us: you need to arrive at least 5 min before the group arrives to the place where we would initiate the hike (the train station or bus stop), also you need to insure yourself that you can park at the train station/nearby the bus stop, and moreover that we are effectuating a round-trip hike (meaning that we come back to the same train/bus station). It is not rare that we would be back from another station in order to explore more lands.

Language? Is that important if my level of English or Spanish is not great?
Most of the participants are locals or internationals living on a long-term basis in Barcelona/Catalonia. We are proud to say that we have had beautiful souls from every continent joining our hikes... it's common that on a hike of 10 people there will be at least 6 different nationality, it happened that we even had 10 nationality reunited!

Delph, our guide, is French and although she also speaks Spanish, Catalan, Italian and English; in 2019 when she started the hikes she chose to make the whole communication of the group in English and to adapt to each person whenever necessary.

During the hikes people are usually speaking multiple languages, or it could happen that people that are more locals would naturally chose Spanish or Catalan to chat between each other however if they see that there is only 1 or 2 person not fluent in their native language they would switch to English and vice-versa. It is also a great activity for some to practice Spanish or Catalan... we are open to every horizon and to any gender and religion.

We are peace, love & hike!
Besides the usual 1 day hiking activity on Sunday, Intothewildcat also organises multiple-days treks!
From April to Mid-November and since we live in a Mediterranean region, we would also organise trekking activities in Catalonia in the Pre-Pyrenees or the Pyrenees and the Southern French Alps
(where Delph has grown up) and Italian Alps.

Since 2019, we therefore realised several days trekking to:
Vall de Núria and beyond the French border several times in refuges,
Queyras Valley (French Alps) in bivouac,
Ubaye Valley (French Alps) in bivouac,
6 legs of the GR11 (Pyrenees) from Andorra to Vall de Núria in bivouac, Collsacabra, Vall d'en Bas and Susqueda in refuges.

We are active on the trails in winter too but we would not organise multiple-days trips anywhere and especially not where there is snow. We do not want to take any risk as we would not feel confident in such conditions.
